Well, hello there and welcome to the official home of the TVK Netlabel (aka The Vegetable Kingdom, Thee Virtual Kassette etc. etc.) This site is where you will find in one centralized place everything we have done thus far and so on into the future, instead of having to trawl through a virtual mountain of social networking sites which admittedly are very effective but should ultimately lead to one place so as to get the full story, which is what we aim to provide here. As further explained in the about page we are a non profit label that releases experimental electronic, post rock, noise and ambient music by artists from all corners of the globe for free download. Having started off several years ago via our myspace page as an experiment in putting out or own personal projects in an effort to connect with like minded others it has grown into a shared experience amongst many wonderful artists and friends we have had the good fortune to meet along the way. This has exceeded our wildest dreams and we are very thankful for the support of those who have given their time and effort to realising projects and of course those who have downloaded, shared, broadcast and said kind words about us. We are (and continue to be) a small obscure operation with limited means, an erratic release schedule to say the least ;-) and still learning what it is we actually are, and do, in the ever evolving landscape of the music "business". There are thousands of labels that are doing the same thing, sometimes more effectively in regards to getting their stuff out there to the masses having more time and resources at their disposal but we have always striven to provide our own niche by letting this thing grow organically  -  each release (and by extension, the artist themselves all of whom operate independently of the label and were always allowed full creative control, regardless of content/context ) succeeds or fails on its own merit. We do promote a little here and there but do not subscribe to the philosophy of constant spamming to get our point across, we find it distasteful and counter productive to the detriment of all involved. This is the reason we think we have survived this long - by trying not to pre-emptively burn bridges, allowing those interested to come to us and it has worked to a certain degree to the point of  having a small audience who trust us and any direction we might take. As was said earlier, we are still learning how to do this, and it is a constant process. Which brings us back to the creation of this here website as we are now undergoing a transition, both on a personal basis as well as this label, in regards to how we will continue to proceed and are currently weighing up the options that we have due to time, resources, practicality and many other things besides. It has always been an uphill battle but never more so than now. So in light of this we have decided to take a brief hiatus to consider our future direction and how to make this a more rewarding experience for all involved as we believe the artists and you, the listener deserve it for everything you have given us since we began. To start with we will continue to build and update this site, featuring the catalogue which will continue to be available forever,  a compiliation that is now available for free download which is intended to showcase the artists who have contributed to this label and we implore you to support these artists as much as you can as without them none of this would have been possible. We hope to be back, sooner rather than later, to bring you the fruits (and vegetables ;-) of our labor and urge you to continue supporting our label, sharing it with others who you think might find something they like and contact us either by email, comments or the cbox if you can be of any assistance in helping us make a better label through volunteering time, resources etc. or just want to say hello/tell us how awesome we are! When we return we will also be asking for submissions for future projects so don't hesitate to let us know if you're interested.
